GASYM EVENTS - 2019
1. One day Symposium on Nutrition and Health for Women Empowerment
Breast cancer awareness workshop for self-evaluation of breast for symptoms of cancer is a very first initiative of GASYM, to speak to women on preliminary identification by self-assessment of breast. Women of all the age groups who are shy to speak about the breast mass and also most of them don't visit doctor and ignore the probable symptoms. GASYM is committed to create awareness among women to fight against this ignorant reasons of breast cancer and be confident to communicate the symptoms to the doctor.
According to United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) India, one third of adolescent women in India are undernourished, with a body mass index (BMI) of less than 18.5 kg/m2. And it is well known that undernourished mother inevitably gives birth to an undernourished baby, perpetuating an intergenerational cycle of malnutrition.
GASYM with the extended support of Smt. Shreemathi Hariprasad, Prof. Jamuna Prakash; Prof. Venkataramaiah; Hemalatha in association with IQAC and PG department of Biochemistry, Maharani's Science College For Women, organized the one-day symposium on "Nutrition and Health for Women Empowerment" on September 25th, 2019. This helped to create awareness about malnutrition and to improve the nutritional intake among the young minds who participated in the symposium.
3. Celebration of World Environment Day - 2019 World Environment Day Celebration by Student Science Council
GASYM, on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 05, 2019 organized SPACE (Student Participation in Agriculture and Caring Environment) program in association of Students Science Council with the theme of "Beat Air Pollution". The higher primary students of Vivekananda Education Institution, Bannuru, and T Narasipura taluk was involved in learning agricultural skills like field preparation and sowing at Doddamaragowdanahalli village. Also a field visit (coffee plantation) was also arranged for the participants to understand the interspecies relationship of biodiversity.
4. Workshop on Self Evaluation of Breast for Cancer
Breast cancer awareness workshop for self-evaluation of breast for symptoms of cancer is a very first initiative of GASYM, to speak to women on preliminary identification by self-assessment of breast. Women of all the age groups who are shy to speak about the breast mass and also most of them don't visit doctor and ignore the probable symptoms. These two are the terrible reasons why Women die of breast cancer.
GASYM is committed to create awareness among women to fight against this ignorant reasons of breast cancer and be confident to communicate the symptoms to the doctor. Thus, to share the knowledge on self-evaluation of breast with the society, GASYM has taken the initiative to organize a series of lectures/Workshops at various colleges/Institutions by eminent practitioners on preliminary identification and self-assessment of breast for cancer.
GASYM organised Workshop on Preliminary Evaluation of Breast for Cancer which was inaugurated by the Director of CSRTI, Mysuru on May 30, 2019. This event was organized for the scientists, and their family members, researchers' female staff members of the institution.
5. One day workshop on Developing Bioinformatics Computational Skills
GASYM on March 19, 2019, in association with the Department of Biotechnology, MMK and SDM College for Women, Mysuru, took-up an initiative to organize one-day workshop on Developing Bioinformatics Computational Sills to offer a basic knowledge of Bioinformatics to Undergraduate students of the institute. The extensive increase in life-science research data offers a variety of wonderful opportunities for the skilled scientific workforce, especially in the field of bioinformatics. Most of the life-science degree programs rarely educate students with the basics of bioinformatics through hands-on training. Hence, to ensure students with the hands on skill in the field of bioinformatics GASYM organized this workshop.
6. Two-day SPACE Program in association with MMK and SDM College for Women, Mysuru
GASYM on February 25th, 2019, in association with MMK and SDM College for Women Mysore, organized the 'Student's Participation in Agriculture and Caring Environment' (SPACE)' program to bring an attitudinal change in the younger generation, with the aim of restricting further environmental damage. Basically, SPACE is an eco-centric event that is mainly focused on educating students of newer generations to understand the environment, agriculture, flora, fauna, and ecosystem as a whole through its inter-linked behavioural pattern. This program is mainly organised to motivate our participants on the importance of biodiversity and its conservation; challenges and opportunities in the conservation of natural resources.

7. One day symposium on Life Science for Future Sustainability
GASYM on January 30th, 2019, in association with Department of Botany, Government College of Women, Mandya organized a One-day Symposium on "LIFE SCIENCE FOR FUTURE SUSTAINABILITY". This program aimed to thank and appreciate the service of a teacher for all the vital role he plays in supporting and strengthening the future of our nation. Mr. Basavaraju, Convenor of the symposium welcomed the dignitaries of the program, Prof. Raveesha K. A. member of advisory committee GASYM, Mr. Marula Sidda Swamy K. M., Secretary of GASYM, Prof. Sri Hari K., Prof. Shankaregowda, and Prof. Sathyanarayana inaugurated the symposium. Dr. Ravi Kumar, Assistant Professor of Botany, AVK First Grade College, discussed on Challenges of biodiversity conservation and Dr. Madhusudhan, Scientist at CSRTI, Mysuru, discussed about the therapeutic applications of silkworm proteins with the participants of this symposium.
8. Classroom to Career (CCP)
GASYM on January 26th, 2019, pioneered a Two Day Classroom to Career program, which was inaugurated by Prof, H. S. Prakash, faculty UGC-BSR fellowship, University of Mysore. Mr. Marula Sidda Swamy K. M., Secretary of GASYM and Mr. Nuthan B. R. Assistant Treasurer of GASYM welcomed Dr. Marian Mutch, Director of Covance and Vidya Navile Assistant Director of Covance to Classroom to career program. Dr. Marian Mutch and Vidya Navile, Dr. Srichaitanya Shivaramaiah, Mr. Lokesh S. V, Mr. Lohith Kumar H. S. addressed the participants of the program.
